Some of you have been reading Bibi's diary for some time now. For those who haven't, here are the facts:
In November 2006 I, who had been unemployed and at home Bibi's whole life, got a job. This meant that Bibi (a two-year-old) would be home alone during the day and so I engaged a dog-walker to walk Bibi at lunchtime every day. This lady is called Mary and she's fab. Super-reliable, great with Bibi, and she always leaves a note for me every day saying how the walk went. Often that note just says "Nice walk, Bibi enjoyed herself, played with a Westie, one wee and one poo" or somesuch. But now and then Mary leaves a note about an "incident" or a behaviour too. Mary has her own dog, James, an 18-month-old viszla, who she often walks with Bibi. And she often walks a third dog, Beanz, a 3-yr-old staffie-like mongrel bitch. I think anyone who's reading this will already know enough about Princess Bibi to know that she is a small mini (13 inches) with a HUGE ego (not fostered by us - she was born to rule! - we spend our time reminding her of her place in the pack, but the ego-driven little Royal Highness insists, nevertheless, on taking every chance she can to prove how important she is). This has led to some funny notes from Mary - e.g. about how Bibi, by force of pure ego, went through a phase where when she walked past James and Beanz in the house, ignoring them, Beanz would throw herself on her back, legs apart, and James would plaster himself against the wall. Or how Bibi was playing with a spaniel who got too boisterous and so she gave him "one of her looks" and he ran away. I could go on but I think you've got the picture. Anyway, I've decided that whenever Mary leaves a funny note for me I'll post it on here. I am reproducing (and always have reproduced) Mary's notes verbatim. |

Weds 14th Feb
Bibi was fine today - it stayed dry for us. We didn't meet anyone we knew - interesting what you say [I had yesterday left a note agreeing with Mary that Bibi's confidence had improved on walks recently, and I added that I thought that this had a lot to do with Mary walking her - it seemed to have broadened her horizons and made her realise that she COULD cope without mummy/daddy by her side (Bibi is nervous of people and most dogs - yup - she's that owner's dream combination of nervous and dominant)]. Bibi is certainly less nervous of Beanz and especially James being too close. Almost one of the gang!!! V. funny today - James picked up a carrot - I asked him to "leave" (he didn't) - asked again - just stood looking at me. Just as I decided to take it from him, he glanced at Bibi, who was giving him her headmistress stare. James immediately dropped the carrot! |
